A long-standing fact is that there are more dogs than children in Seattle. A city chocked full of intellectual / tech DINKS (double income no kids) seem to prefer the adoption of four legged furry friends than actually having kids of their own. With that being said, dog parks and off-leash areas in high demand, especially for travelers and van lifers exploring the Northwest.

Magnuson Dog Park
This by far is the best dog park in Seattle. Located in the Sand Point neighborhood, Magnuson is a massive city park that has dedicated 8.6 acres of the park to an off-leash dog area. This park includes a mix of an off-leash open space for running and playing as well as gravel trails. The dog park also features a portion of the waterfront for pups to swim and play. The little dog beach / cove is very busy during the summer months, but is worth visiting! This park also features a little dog area that is a fenced in portion for small dogs to feel comfortable running and playing with others of their own size.
There is parking nearby the dog park entrance. Hoses and water bowls are available for use.
Best for Residents in and around Sand Point, Laurelhurst, Lake City Way, U-District

Woodland Park Off-Leash Area
On a hot day, this Woodland park off-leash area offers plenty of shade thanks to the coverage of all the trees. The dog park is not that large, and more in a shape of a circle. Since it is smaller, it offers quit the opportunity to chat-it-up with fellow dog owners. This would be a good spot for older or less rambunctious dogs since it is smaller. If your dog loves to socialize, this would be the place for you!
Best for Residents in and Around Greenlake, Fremont, Phinny Ridge, Tangletown
On a hot day, this Woodland park off-leash area offers plenty of shade thanks to the coverage of all the trees. The dog park is not that large, and more in a shape of a circle. Since it is smaller, it offers quit the opportunity to chat-it-up with fellow dog owners. This would be a good spot for older or less rambunctious dogs since it is smaller. If your dog loves to socialize, this would be the place for you!

Kinnear Park Off-Leash Area
If nearby the Lower Queen Anne / Seattle Center area, the Kinnear Park offers an off-leash area nearby the lower portion of the park. The park is located on a hillside, so the best access points are from Roy Street. The dog park is nearby the tennis court and offers a 5,400 square foot fenced-in off-leash area for dogs to run wild. This off-leash area is covered in wood chips and has some neat tree stumps/logs to play on. This area is often shady as its built between the natural forest growth.

If nearby the Lower Queen Anne / Seattle Center area, the Kinnear Park offers an off-leash area nearby the lower portion of the park. The artificial grass is a bonus for those who are not able to clean off their dogs before bringing them back into the apartment buildings. I dont think its the most optimal park in Seattle, but if in a pinch in downtown, this is your best option.
